From 1984 to 1985 he became a visiting professor at the Imperial College of Science and Technology department of the University of London. From 1985 to 1987 he was Deputy Chief at the Institute of New Generation Computer Technology and from 1988 to 1989 he served as an associated professor at the Data Processing Center, a division of Kyoto University.
